Celebrating 20 Years - Since 1987

Traverse PC - Desktop Version 7.0
Update/Upgrade Policy

File Exchange

Enhanced ASCII FILE SUPPORT  -  We added the option to NOT export points with matching text in the point label.  Use this to exclude points with colons (1:1), stakeout points (32@1) or whatever.

Version 7.0 allows you to specify a description width of from 1 to 255 characters and we added the ability to import the point label prefix.  Enter ‘CP’ or ‘CP*’ and TPC imports CP1, CP2, etc.  Enter ‘*CP’ and TPC imports 1CP, 2CP.

And now you can Save and Recall ASCII formats.  We added a new dialog, like the Traverse Format dialog, that lists the stored formats by name.  It also shows the format in the dialog for positive feedback.

ADDED Nikon RAW V2.0  -  Version 7.0 supports Nikon RAW data format V2.00 used by AP800, DTM-821 and Nikon Transit Software.

ENHANCED DWG/DWF  -  We added support for smoothed LWPolylines and support for Solid and Pattern fills when exporting a DWG.  In addition, we added support for AutoCAD 2004 Import.  Watch for AutoCAD 2004 export by mid-2004.

New Horizontal Curve Data Entry

The Traverse View now allows you to enter the PC->PR and PR->PT azimuth/bearing of a curve directly.  They are in either Azimuth or Bearing format depending on the Program Settings (same as all dialogs).

These two directions define the central angle (Delta) and direction of the curve.  You will see the radius for instance, indicate the curve direction as CW or CCW when you enter these two directions.  The curve dialog box also uses these values to compute the curve.

Legal Description Enhancements

Added option to numbered courses to legal descriptions.

Legal Descriptions can includes non-tangent curve information  ...THENCE TO THE BEGINNING POINT OF A NON-TANGENT CURVE TO THE RIGHT HAVING A RADIUS OF 430.00 FROM WHICH THE RADIUS POINT BEARS S84° 42' 21"W, THENCE...

COGO Enhancements

Added Edit button to many COGO dialogs.  TPC displays the Survey Point Properties dialog where  you can edit the COGO point being created, specifying its description, point symbol, symbol size and rotation to be used in all drawings.

Added First Label, Next Label and Description fields to many COGO dialogs allowing you to create your own point label sequences like 100-1, 100-2 or 1001, 1002, etc.

Added Point Label and Description options to the Offset Interval dialog provides greater flexibility in labeling offset points.

Added Multiple option to ROW Offset dialog to create any number of offsets at intervals from the center line.

Added Copy Centerline Description to ROW Offset dialog  or you can enter your own description to be given to all ROW points created.

Changed default field to Point On Line in Offset to Line dialog.

Added PC and PT to Intersection dialog to indicate how to recall a line or curve by two points.

Added Accept Points Beyond Line option to Intersect dialog to allow points beyond the end of a line or curve to be accepted.

Re-grouped the fields in the Offset to Line dialog to be more ‘self explanatory’ and added a summary button

Added Single Point Offset to Offset to Alignment dialog  - TPC automatically displays the highlighted point in the Offset to Alignment dialog and displays its station/offset.  Sometimes, this is all you need.

Added point Labels and Descriptions to Predetermined Area dialog.

Point View Enhancements

Added Copy to Scrap command - this works just like the Copy to Scrap in the Traverse View.

Added Survey Point Properties dialog. Highlight any point, then right click and choose Survey Point Properties.  You can specify a point symbol / size / rotation, change the point label or description or coordinates, change the point settings, etc.  You can also edit survey point properties from the Traverse View.

Added a COGO menu to the Point View.  Rotating and Translating act on the entire survey.

New Point  Plot Traverse

The new Point Plot traverse lets you plot the COGO points you create, as you create them.  Like the Scrap traverse, TPC creates the Point Plot traverse automatically - when you need it.  Combined with the ability to override point symbols / size / rotation across all drawings, you have a powerful new way to control the way any point looks on any map.

Drawing Enhancements

Expanded hatching - select from over 50 patterns and fills.  Or add your own hatch bitmaps through our new TpcFills.dat file.

TPC also writes most hatch patterns, including solid, to DWG files.

TPC now allows Ctrl+V to paste text into a Text, Angled Text or Text Box object while you are entering the text.  Use any of the Cut or Copy commands in any Windows application to place text on the Windows Clipboard, then paste it right into the text object.

The new Find Point command locates a point in Quick View and zooms in on it.

Commands like Copy and Insert Block can be repeated multiple times.  Removed the Insert | Block Multiple command since it can now be done by repeating the Insert | Block command..

Added Quick View Settings button to Convert To Survey dialog - the new traverse will have the Drawing Settings you select in this dialog.

New Add Points to Traverse command lets you create a new traverse then click the points you want in it.  Smart clicks look for existing survey points. It’s like having a built-in smart snap.

New Erase command.  Now you can select the objects to erase via left click / window / cross / previous.

New Reset Modified Attributes by Traverse command.   This new command allows you to right click any traverse object and reset the modified attributes of all objects created by that traverse.

You can now label lines that aren’t drawn.

The Control and Sideshot dialogs now let you control distance, direction, elevation and coordinate decimals by traverse.

The Control and Sideshot dialogs now let you trim symbols by traverse.

The Control and Sideshot dialogs now have None buttons that turn off line type, line labels and point symbols.

The Control dialog now gives you the option to draw the closing point in a closed loop traverse

The Control, Sideshot and Lot Label dialogs now let you updated all the tagged traverses using the current drawing settings.

The new Edit Scale List command lets you Add / Remove scales from the list of scales on the Quick View Format Bar.

The Border dialog now lets you select a layer other than ‘0’ for the border.

New Point Symbol Override - you can now specify a point’s symbol, size and rotation and have them define that point symbol in all drawings.  These settings override any drawing or traverse settings.

Added Wheel Mouse option to Zoom or Scroll when the wheel is rotated.  Available in the Quick View Settings dialog.

Added point Label, Description and Coordinates to Point Symbol dialog.

Legend Enhancements

You can now right click a contour line and append it to the legend, using the contour name for the legend item text.

You can now append polylines to the legend.

TPC now prompts you for a description when you append an object to the legend

Added Text Legend Item dialog for ‘Append Text Item To Legend’ command

Point Code Table

Added default Point Code Table.   Now when you edit point codes for the first time in a survey, TPC populates the point code table with the default codes in this file.

Expanded Help Files

Version 7.0 includes lots of new help topics plus an expanded index so you can locate the help you need.

 New Installer
