What's New in Professional? |
|
| |
We are very excited about Version 5. Not only have we added
Contours,
Volumes,
DTM, Drawing Rotation
and DWG & DXB support, but we've integrated them in a way you just have to see to
believe. We've also added many of the Professional Edition features
to the Basic and Standard Editions, making them more powerful than ever.
Read
the Review of Contouring from Professional Surveyor, November, 2002
Contours - Contouring alone are worth the
update - we've made it a 'walk in the park'. You can turn topo
points on or off right in Quick View and watch as TPC redraws the
contours. Same with border points and breaklines. You'll find
yourself 'interacting' with the contour in real time, getting it to look just
like it's supposed to. Turn on contour smoothing and you've got a great
looking contour.
Volumes - TPC does volumes three
different ways 1) to the contour border, 2) to an arbitrary elevation or 3) to
another surface. You'll get cut and fill volumes along with the net
volume, surface area and cut and fill areas.
DTM
- We've added basic DTM (Digital Terrain Modeling)
features so you can generate transects from drawing objects or traverses, cut /
fill reports and more.
DWG & DXB - Now you can import / export DWG & DXB (binary DXF
files) files just like you currently do
with DXF files. Supports R12 - R2002. WOW!
Drawing Rotation - Rotate the survey any amount on the drawing.
Not only that, but set objects like the north arrow to rotate automatically with
the survey!
Polyline Smoothing - We've added polyline smoothing via a curve
fitting routine that guarantees that the smoothed line passes through all the
original polyline points. Plus, you can specify the maximum distance you
will allow the smoothed lines to vary from the original lines.
Text Centering - There's a new 'Align Center' command that
automatically centers the selected objects, including text. Plus you can
now select Left, Right or Center justification for any text, angled text or text
boxes.
Inserting Symbols - Insert any symbol in any font using our new pull
down symbol list.

DXF Imports... |
|
| |
Starting with v4.5 you can import DXF files right into
your TPC drawing. We are using this in our own surveying business to import
contours into our drawings, but you can use it for any DXF file. TPC
recreates the layers, blocks, symbols – everything you need to pick up right
where you left off in CAD. And because the imported objects are part of the
drawing, you can hide their layer, change their properties, convert them to
survey points and lots more. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Layers... |
|
| |
Starting with v4.5, TPC does layers. With TPC’s Quick View and
Traverse Settings, you’ll do most of your drawings without even thinking about
layers. But what about the times you want to hide the contours you just imported
in the drawing or lock all the lot dimensions. That’s when you need layers.
TPC provides the standard layer functions like On/Off, Freeze/Thaw, Lock/Unlock
and the ability to specify object properties (color, line type and line width)
by layer. The layer tools actually make the Traverse Settings even more
powerful. TPC puts all your lot labels on their own layer so you can hide them
all at once or lock them so they can’t be moved – it’s all very easy and
very powerful. |

Converting Drawing Objects
to Survey Objects... |
|
| |
Starting with v4.5, you can convert any drawing object to survey points - even
traverses. Just right click the curb line in the drawing and convert it to
a traverse. Now export the traverse to your data collector and stake it
out. Or how about right clicking a light pole and converting all the
objects on the light pole layer to survey points? |
