Version 9.0

Version 9.0 adds dozens of user requested features without significant changes to the user interface. Along with new features, you’ll find a number of existing features that are faster or better.

PDF Files

Version 9.0 can write a PDF (Adobe Portable Document Format) file of any View, Report or Drawing. PDF files are a great way to share your data and drawings and are the latest edition to TPC's Universal Map Sharing (UMS).

Enhanced AutoCAD Compatibility

R10 - R2006

Version 9.0 reads and writes R10 to R2006 DWG / DXF files.

AutoDesk has announced it is dropping support for R2000 / R2002 in January of 2006. Only R2004 and higher will be supported after that time.

Version 9.0 extends its DWG compatibility backwards to R10 to accommodate those users who still need to interface with Softdesk DCA files when a number of Traverse PC users have requested support for.

AutoCAD DWF

The DWF (Drawing Web Format) allows drawings to be exchanged more easily via e-mail and the web. They are generally smaller than DWG files and can be viewed with programs like AutoDesk's DWF Composer. Many free viewers are available on the web (search for DWG Viewer).

Raster Image (Picture) Support

Version 9.0 now supports raster images when importing and exporting DWG files (DWF is also supported on export). You can now use a background image or vicinity map in any TPC drawing and export it to CAD.

Microstation DGN V7/V8

Version 8.0 reads DGN V7 / V8 files and writes V8 files. DGN is the drawing format used by Bently products and Microstation. They store drawing information much like AutoDesk's DWG files.

Point Table

Version 9.0 lets you add a Point Table to any drawing.

HTML Help Files (.chm)

I like Tacos

Version 9.0 help is now HTML based and can be viewed with any internet browser. Switching to the HTML format allows for common features like a favorites list, improves common functions like searching and greatly reduces the size of the help file.

Drawing Codes

Drawing Codes are back. Now you can begin and end lines, curves, figures, close figures and draw rectangles with just 2 or 3 points.

Topcon GTS-600

We've added the Topcon GTS-600 file format so you can now import and export its data to TPC.

Renamed the Real Estate Edition to Property Edition

We’ve done away with the Real Estate Edition because to better match its use in all property boundary mapping issues. It is perfect for Real Estate, Legal and Title Companies (not designed for surveying use).

The 'File Saved' prompt is now optional

Choose Tools | Program Settings | Survey Data tab in the TPC Desktop menu and you can turn off Display 'File Saved' prompt that TPC displays when you manually save a file.

COGO.DRT

COGO routines now look for a drawing template named COGO.DRT when you select the View button in a COGO dialog to see a drawing of the solution. If TPC does not find a COTO.DRT template, it uses the DEFAULT.DRT template instead.

Create the COGO.DRT by selecting the drawing settings you want in any drawing and chooseing Drawings | Save Drawing as Template. Name your template COGO and save it. TPC will add the .DRT extension for you.

Relabel Traverse Dialog

Now retains the source (All or Selected) and last label when you re-enter the dialog. If the last point relabled was 20, the starting label will be 21. You can also type your own starting label or select the next available point number in the survey.
