Inserting a Rectangle

The Rectangle command inserts a rectangle into the drawing using the current line type, line width and color of the Drawing View Format Bar. The rectangle is a single object, so all sides can be edited and moved as one.

Select the mode you want to draw the text in - Paper Space or Survey Space.
From the Format toolbar, choose the line type, width and color. You can change the properties of the line at any time, but you will save time by selecting them first.
Choose Draw | Rectangle. The cursor will change to a tick (cross) indicating that Drawing View is looking for an insertion point.
Move the cursor to one of the corners of the rectangle you wish to draw. Notice that the status bar displays the location of the tick mark in both survey and paper coordinates. You can also snap on another object to pick the insertion point. Left click the mouse to choose the position you want.
Move the cursor to the diagonal corner and left click the mouse. To enter an exact height and width, hold down the left Shift key and left click near the diagonal. TPC displays the rectangle dialog box. You can enter the height, width, coordinates, etc. Choose OK when finished and TPC will redraw the rectangle to the desired specifications.

To cancel the text command anytime before you finish, press the [Esc] key.

Rounded Corners

To create a rectangle with rounded corners,

first draw the rectangle using this command
then right click the rectangle and choose Properties.
Enter the appropriate Radius and choose OK.
