To generate a list of codes used in the current survey, choose Tools | Update Codes...
TPC will check each point in the survey to see if its description contains any codes. When it finds a unique code, it adds the code to the Point Codes Manager.
Here is an example of some points and the codes they generate:
Point Description Code Generated Comments
100 CL CL The first word is a code (CL)
101 OAK 14"DBH OAK The first word is a code (OAK)
102 CL--SD CL and SD Additional codes start with the code delimiter (--)
103 CL--SD CL and SD Additional codes start with the code delimiter (--)
104 FND 1"IP FND The first word is a code (FND)
108 TFC2 TFC2 The first word is a code (TFC2)
109 CB --TFC2 CB and TFC2 Additional codes start with the code delimiter (--)
110 SW1 SW1 SW1 is the first Sidewalk

On some data collectors, these same codes might all start with the code delimiter as follows. Either way, TPC will read the codes just fine.

109 --CB --TFC2 CB and TFC2 Additional codes start with the code delimiter (--)
110 --SW1 SW1 SW1 is the first Sidewalk

112 --SW1 SW1 SW1 is the first Sidewalk
The Update Dialog lets you enter your own code delimiter to handle multiple codes in a point description. The default code delimiter can be set in the Point Codes Manager Settings dialog box but the delimiter for a single survey can be changed at any time in the Update Codes Dialog.
