When TPC sorts points into traverses based on codes, it appends the points to their respective traverses in the order of their point labels. If you collected points for a feature line like a sidewalk or center line in order (1, 2, 3, etc.), there is no need to sort the points further. When you plot the traverse, it will show the feature correctly.
If, however, you collected any points out of sequence, TPC can sort the points within a traverse using a 'nearest neighbor' sort. This sort rearranges the sequence of points so that each point in the traverse follows the point it is closest to.
To sort points within a traverse, include the Sort column in the display sequence of the Point Codes Manager and make sure TPC displays 'Yes' for any codes you want sorted this way.
To change the value of the sort column, press 'Y' for Yes or 'N' for No. You can also select codes and choose Tools | Modify Code | Sort Nearest On or Tools | Modify Code | Sort Nearest Off.
