Picture files come in a number of formats – JPG, GIF, EMF, WMF, PNG, BMP (Bitmaps) and ICO (Icons).
The inserted picture becomes a picture object. Picture objects behave like other drawing objects in that you can drag-n-drop them anywhere on the drawing, resize them, hide them, delete them and so on.
Pictures in Survey Space are not affected by any User Rotation applied to the drawing.
A picture object’s region lies along the outside border of the picture. The picture can only be selected when the cursor if over its region, so placing the cursor over the center of a picture will not allow you to select it.
When you insert a picture into a drawing, you are inserting a link to that picture file. If you send the picture to another person via e-mail, you will need to include the picture file with it. If the link to the picture file cannot be resolved, TPC does not display the picture. Also, any changes made to the picture file outside of the program will show up in any drawings that use that picture.
To help you keep track of your pictures, TPC can copy picture files to the survey’s file folder for you.
You can edit photos and pictures right inside Drawing View. Or you can choose Properties and open the picture in your favorite photo editor.
You can edit any picture in your own picture editing program. TPC uses ‘mspaint’ by default, but you can specify your own. From the TPC desktop, choose Tools | Program Settings | Miscellaneous and enter the name of your picture editor in the Picture Editor field. TPC uses ‘mspaint’ as the default editor because it ships with Windows, but you can use any editor capable of editing JPG, GIF, PNG, EMF, BMP or ICO file types.
