Spell Checking a Report

Report Documents

A report is a word processing document and resides in a DOC file you can open in any word processor. The Report View allows you to edit the document right inside TPC. You can copy text from another Windows application and paste it into your report or visa-versa. TPC can place information into the report, like a legal description or traverse report which you can then edit as needed.

You can check spelling in another word processor and import that text into the Report View or spell check text in the Report View then copy the text to another word processor.

Advantages of TPC's Spell Checker

The advantage of use TPC's spell checker is that it understands surveying terms, angles and numbers. TPC knows what FND is a common abbreviation for FOUND and that Nikon, Pentax and Sokkia are total stations and so on. The end result is that you spend more time checking words that really need to be checked.

To Spell Check Selected Text

Select that text you want to spell check. Position the cursor at the start of the text you want to select, then hold down the left shift key and left click the end of the text you want to select. The selected text will be displayed with a dark background.

Choose Tools, Check Spelling.

When TPC gets to the end of the selected text, the command is finished and TPC replaces the selected text with any changes you made in the Spell Check dialog.

To Spell Check the Entire Report

Position the cursor in the report where you want to start the spell check.

Choose Tools, Check Spelling.

TPC checks spelling to the end of the report. At the end, TPC prompts you to return to the beginning and continue checking spelling. If you choose No, the command ends. If you choose Yes, TPC continues the command at the beginning of the document and finishes the command when the starting point is reached.

TPC replaces the report text with any changes you made in the Spell Check dialog.
