Window Extents Command

Use this command to select the extents of the drawing. The drawing scale is then applied to the area extents you select.

If your data includes points that are a long way from the area you want to draw, as in a corner tie, you can limit the drawing extents to just the area you want to show on the drawing. You will also use this command to limit the drawings you import from DXF or DWG files.

This command works just like Zoom Window. You pick the two diagonal corners you want to define the new drawing extents. TPC then recomputes the scale and centers the windowed area on the page.

To undo the extents you’ve selected, choose View | Zoom | Zoom Extents. Then either reselect new drawing extents or just update the scale.

Use Like CAD Views

If you are familiar with CAD drawings you can think of Window Extents as a view. It does not change the survey extents, it just limits the portion of the survey that you will be viewing.
