This option allows you to make various settings affecting the program operation.
Allows you to set the default word processor or use the Browse button to locate it.
Enter the name of your default picture editor or use the Browse button to locaste it.
You can select from these options:
Automatic (default) - Updates all visible views as data is edited. If an affected view was autohidden or not open, it is refreshed the next time it becomes visible.
When view is activated - Updates each view when it is activated (becomes the active view).
Off (manual) - Views are only updated when you tell the program to refresh them or when they are opened for the first time.
The synchronizatin options have a greater affect on the speed of the TPC Desktop as the file size increases. As you can imagine, it doesn't take much time to update the Points Manager if you just have a few hundred points in your survey. But what if you have 5,000 points? Your computer may require an extra second or two to update the Points Manager alone. That's when you will start to notice the speed change and will want to consider switching from the Automatic settings to one of the others.
Turn this option On to display a warning if you try to edit the coordinates (X, Y Z) of a protected point. You must choose Yes to update the coordinate, preventing you from inadvertantly changing a protected coordinate.
Some users want the ability to manually update the coordinates of a protected point while others don't want to accidently change a protected coordinate value. This option lets you determine whether or not you are warned.
The coordinates of protected points are never modified by the program itself. This option merely determines whether or not TPC will warn you if you try to manually override protected coordinates.
The program tries to store the printer you have selected for printing the views and reports. It also tries to store the printer used for each drawing. If you get an Invalid Page Fault when trying to print the Message View or Drawing View, your computer may not be capable of using stored printers. In that case, turn on this option. If you have printed or plotted to a device other than the default Windows printer, you will need to select the alternate device each time you run the program. Default-=Off.
When the above option (Use Windows Default Printer) is turned off, the program tries to reconcile the stored printer with the installed printer on your computer. If the stored printer is installed on your computer, the stored printer information is updated to the driver on your computer.
Applies the Program Settings you have selected.
Discards any changes made in the Program Settings and returns you to the previous view.
