Preferences allow you to customize the way you interact with drawing objects.
As you add objects to your drawing, re-draws will take longer. With enough memory and a fast enough processor, you may never notice the slow down - even in large drawings. If you do however, you may want to use Draft Mode. Draft mode reduces the quality of the drawing in order to draw faster.
Turn this On [X] to enable Object Snap Mode.
Turn this On [X] to show Hidden Objects.
Turn this On [X] to enable Drawing Codes.
Turn this On [X] to display the filename reference for missing blocks and pictures. If a drawing references a block file or picture file TPC can't find, the object's filename is displayed in brackets. You might see {X:\Surveys\SharedPictures\Area1.jpg} to indicate the picture being referenced. For more information see Blocks and Pictures.
Turn this option on if you want TPC do draw a traverse as you enter data. As each new traverse point is entered and computed, TPC checks to see if the new point is withing the current extents of the drawing. If not, the drawing extents are updated to include the point and the traverse is redrawn. See Zooming in Drawing View.
Choose from Black or White (default).
If you select Black for the background color, TPC maps the object color Black to White in Drawing View so you can see it, but plots it as Black when you print or export the drawing.
Turn this option On to allow objects to be drawn in the background color of Drawing View. Default=Off.
When this option is Off [ ], TPC does not allow you to draw objects using the background color of Drawing View. If you did, the object would ‘disappear’ into the background. You would turn this option On [X] if you are placing objects of the background color on top of other filled objects.
The maximum number of commands to store for undo. Default = 10.
Turn this option On [X] to check label offsets. If an object label is too far from its object, TPC displays a warning when opening the drawing. By default, TPC considers any object label more than 4 inches from its object to be out of position. Change the value here to whatever maximum offset you want. Default = 4”
When TPC warns you that a label offset is invalid, these are your options.
Yes = reset this object label’s X and Y offsets to zero. The label will draw next to the object.
No = do not reset this object label’s offsets.
With this option turned On [X] , TPC displays a status bar for the Drawing View along the bottom of the view. This option is especially useful when you are using multiple monitors and the Drawing View is on its own monitor while the other views are on a different monitor.
