The Control Point Settings can be accessed through the Edit menu, the Control Point Settings button, or by right-clicking on the Drawing View drawing and selecting Control Points… on the pop-up menu.
Control Points = occupied pts, foresights, PI’s, curves and spirals.
These settings are used when viewing, printing, or exporting the map.
Tells the Drawing View what color to use for Control Points (Lines, Points, Symbols, Curve).
Choose the line type and line annotations for control points.
Font
Select the Font, character size and font style (Thin, Light, Normal, Medium, Bold, Heavy) you want to use for the line annotations (Distance, Direction, Grade) you select.
Line, None
Enter the line type (dashed, solid, etc.) and width you want to use for your Control Point lines. Select the None button to turn off lines.
Distance, Direction, None
Choose how you want to label the Control Point lines. Distance and Direction can be displayed Above, Below or not displayed (None) in your drawing. Select the None button to turn off all line labels.
Grade Below
Includes the Grade in the text below the line.
Use commas to Separate
TPC separates items on the same line with a comma and a space. Turn this option off to separate them with just a space.
Clear Background
Clear any pattern or bitmap fills to make the line labels easier to read.
Leader
Turns on Line Leader(s) for line annotations that don't fit on a line. The style (line type, arrow, size) of these leaders is controled in the Drawing Settings dialog in the Miscellaneous tab.
From the pull down list choose Single to put all items on a single line or Split to separate each item onto it's own line. This option only affects line labels that are drawn off to the side of the line because they don't fit on it.
Choose how you want your Control Points displayed
Font
Select the Font, character size and font style (Thin, Light, Normal, Medium, Bold, Heavy) you want to use for the point labels. See Text Objects for more information on sizing text.
Point, Description, Z, Y/X, Station
Sets the point label options you want displayed on your map.
Point = Point Label
Description = Point Description
Z = Elevation
Y/X = Northing and Easting
Station = StationsInterval
Choose an Interval if you don't want to label every point. Enter 2 to label every other point or 5 to label every fifth point, etc.
Angle
Choose the angle at which you want the label drawn (0=horizontal, 90=up, -90=down, etc.).
Draw Closing Point
By default, TPC tries to keep your drawing clean by not drawing or labeling the closing point of a closed loop traverse. If TPC did not do this, a closed loop traverse with a very small error of closure would end up with both the initial point and closing point drawing themselves over the top of each other.
There are times however, when the initial and closing points are not close together, that you may wish to draw the closing point. This option allows you to do so.
Select the Point Symbol and size you want to use for Control Points.
None
Turn off the point symbol (no symbol will be drawn).
Browse
Select a symbol from the object library and add it to the symbol list. Once added, it can be used by any drawing in the survey.
Trim Symbols
With Trim Symbols turned on, the lines drawn between points will be trimmed to stop at the edge of the point symbols.
You can control the decimal settings for each traverse. Sets the number of decimal places to use for Distance, Direction, Elevations and coordinates.
This option saves the Control Points Settings as the programs default settings. These settings will be used for any new drawing that is created. Save is only available from the Drawing Settings. It is not available from the Traverse Settings.
Drawing Settings - If the top of the dialog says "Drawing Settings", this option resets the Control Point Settings of the drawing to the default settings you saved for the program by pressing the Save button.
Traverse Settings - If the top of the dialog says "Traverse Settings", this option resets the Control Point Settings of this traverse to the Control Point Settings of the drawing.
You will return to the Drawing View and your new settings will be in use when you click OK.
Returns you to the Drawing View without applying any changes.
