Traverse Dialog

This dialog is called once for any new traverse added to the survey, allowing you to establish the Traverse View format and drawing settings for the traverse. Once you choose OK, the dialog is not called again for the traverse.

Name

Use this field to enter or modify the name of the new traverse. Depending on how the traverse was created, TPC may supply a default traverse name for you. You are free to change it as needed.

Increment name for next traverse

Turn this toggle on to increment the traverse name the next time this dialog is opened. If you create a traverse named Lot 1, this dialog will display the traverse name Lot 2 the next time it is opened. You don't have to use the incremented name if you don't want it. You can always enter any traverse name you want at any time.

Format

Select a format from the pull-down list. The list includes the pre-defined formats provided by Traverse PC, as well as any formats you have created. Choose the format that is best suited to the traverse.

Select the edit button [...] next to the format list to display the Traverse Format dialog and further edit the traverse format. This action further modifies the format of the new or existing traverse but it does NOT modify the format you selected from the Format list.

You modify the formats in this list from the Traverse Format dialog.

Settings

Select Traverse settings for this traverse from the pull-down list. The list includes the pre-defined settings provided by Traverse PC, as well as any user settings you have created.

Select the edit button [...] next to the Settings list to further edit the traverse settings. This action further modifies the traverse settings of the new or existing traverse but it does NOT modify the settings you selected from the Settings list.

Some settings, like Symbols Only, are designed to be edited. This predefined setting draws a point symbol without any lines. You will edit it to select the symbol you want along with its color and size.

Drawing Options

Share current drawing - this option keeps the current drawing open. If you also select the Set Tag option, points you add to the new traverse are added to the current drawing. If you do not set the tag of this traverse, the current drawing remains open as a reference.

Create temporary drawing - creates a new, temporary drawing for this traverse. When you close the traverse view the temporary drawing is discarded.

Delineate traverse - Selects this traverse as the delineated traverse in Drawing View.

Set Tag - Tags this traverse in the Traverses Manager, in effect, adding it to the current drawing.

OK

Apply the settings in this dialog to the traverse.

Cancel

Cancels this command. Remember, TPC requires you to complete this dialog for any new traverse. If you cancel the dialog, TPC will display it again the next time you access this traverse.
