TPC uses the terms Field Data or Raw Data to refer to measurements taken in the field, either manaully or electronically with a data collector. These are typical angles and distances for conventional survey and latitude and longitude for GPS.
The term Raw Data is often used because this data can be adjusted to reduce systematic and random errors.
In TPC, you typically create a traverse to hold field data and format the Traverse View to match the data. For conventional survey data, format the Traverse View to include field angle, zenith angle, slope distance, instrument and target heights. Now enter the data into the traverse or import data from a data collector. For GPS field data, format the view to display latitude and longitude and let TPC convert them to coordinates based on your current survey grid.
Formatting the Traverse Views allows you to enter any kind of data without codes (BR=bearing, HD=horizontal distance) like some surveying programs.
As you enter field data, TPC draws it for you in the Drawing View using our Drawing View technology. This is a great way to enter data and instantly see if you've made a blunder. Enter the data correctly and see if you covered the topo area properly or properly tied back into other control points.
All control closes out on itself or another part of the survey. The Closure View is the place to check the closure of your survey control.
