Softdesk DCA R10

DCA R10 files are AutoCAD DWG files which store both drawing objects and the survey points related to them.

Opening DCA files in AutoCAD

DCA R10 files can be opened in AutoCAD or any other CAD program but those programs will not reconcile the drawing objects and survey points stored in the file. The drawing objects will look more or less correct, but the stored survey points will have different coordinates than they did in DCA.

Reconciled Drawing Entities and Survey Points

DCA reconciled the drawing objects and survey points in the software, not in the DWG file. TPC reconciles the drawing objects and survey points for you and makes them ready for use in the survey they are imported into. The imported DCA R10 file will create a drawing much like you had in DCA R10. In addition, you will see the imported points in the Points Manager. These are the same survey points available in DCA R10. They are regular survey points in TPC and can be used for COGO, traversing, etc.

Importing DCA R10 Files

The Import dialog will indicate when the operation is complete.

TPC will add a new traverse to the survey and put all of the imported points into it. The imported points also show up in the Points Manager. If you don’t want the traverse you can delete it. The points will remain in the Points Manager.
