Translating
The translation dialog box can be accessed both from the Traverses Manager, Traverse View,
Points Manager or Drawing View. From the Traverses Manager it gives you the option to
translate
All Traverses or Selected Traverses. Accessed from the Traverse
View or Points Manager, you can only translate All Points or Selected Points.
Accessed from the Drawing View, you can only translate the Entire Survey.
Specifying the Translation
There are four ways to specify a translation using this dialog box.
- Enter the amount to move in each direction using Coordinates: Y, X and Z.
- Enter the amount to move by specifying a bearing/azimuth and distance in Direction: Bearing and Distance. This is especially useful if you use equations for the values.
- Translate so that a particular point ends up at another known point that is at the correct position. Enter a To point that the From point will be translated to.
- Translate so that a particular point ends up at a specified coordinate. Enter the To: Y, X and Z that the From point will be translated to.
Translating the Survey
- From the Traverses Manager or Drawing View, choose COGO | Translate.
- In the Translate dialog, specify the translation.
- From the Translate What box, choose Entire Survey.
- Choose OK.
Every point in the survey will be translated by the amounts shown in the Move Y, X and Z fields. Protected points will not be translated unless you choose [X] Protected points.
Translating Selected Traverses
- In the Traverses Manager, select the traverses you want to translate. Selecting traverses is a powerful feature of TPC.
- Choose COGO | Translate.
- In the Translate dialog, specify the translation.
- From the Translate What box, choose Selected traverses.
- Choose OK.
Translating a Traverses in Drawing View
- Right click any object drawn by the traverse you want to translate (a point symbol, line, line label, etc) and left click Traverse Tools.
- Choose Translate. TPC displays the Translate dialog for this traverse.
- In the Translate dialog, specify the translation.
- Choose OK. TPC translates the entire traverse.
Translating a Single Traverse
- From the Traverse View, choose COGO | Translate.
- In the Translate dialog, specify the translation.
- From the Translate What box, choose Entire Traverse.
- Choose OK.
Translating the Selected Points
- In the Traverse View or Points Manager, select the points you want to translate.
- Choose COGO | Translate.
- In the Translate dialog, specify the translation.
- From the Translate What box, choose Selected Points.
- Choose OK.
