Rotating
The rotation dialog box can be accessed from the Traverses Manager, Traverse View,
Drawing View and Points Manager. From the Traverses Manager it gives you the option to rotate
All Traverses or Selected Traverses. Accessed from the Traverse View
or Points Manager, you can only rotate All Points or Selected Points.
Accessed from the Drawing View, you can only rotate the Entire Survey.
Rotating the Survey
- From the Traverses Manager, Points Manager or Drawing View, choose COGO | Rotate.
- In the Rotate dialog, enter the Rotate Point.
- Enter the Degrees of rotation (positive is clockwise, negative is counterclockwise) or enter the bearing or azimuth you want to rotate From and To. Remember that bearings or azimuths between existing points can be recalled by entering a point label followed by .. then the second point label.
- From the Rotate What box, choose Entire Survey.
- Choose OK.
Every point in the survey will be rotated around the specified point of rotation. Protected points will not be rotated unless you choose [x] Protected Points.
Rotating Selected Traverses
This ability to select traverses is a very powerful feature of TPC. In this case, you may need to rotate two traverses based on one survey to the basis of bearing to which the rest of the survey is oriented.
- In the Traverses Manager, select the traverses you want to rotate.
- Choose COGO | Rotate.
- In the Rotate dialog, enter the Rotate Point.
- Enter the Degrees of rotation (positive is clockwise, negative is counterclockwise) or enter the bearing or azimuth you want to rotate From and To. Remember that bearings or azimuths between existing points can be recalled by entering a point label followed by .. then the second point label.
- From the Rotate What box, choose Selected Traverses.
- Choose OK.
Rotating a Traverse from Drawing View
- Right click any object drawn by the traverse you want to rotate (a point symbol, line, line label, etc) and left click Traverse Tools.
- Choose Rotate. TPC displays the Rotate dialog for this traverse.
- In the Rotate dialog, enter the Rotate Point.
- Enter the Degrees of rotation (positive is clockwise, negative is counterclockwise) or enter the bearing or azimuth you want to rotate From and To. Remember that bearings or azimuths between existing points can be recalled by entering a point label followed by .. then the second point label.
- Choose OK. TPC rotates the entire traverse.
Rotating a Single Traverse
- From the Traverse View, choose COGO | Rotate.
- In the Rotate dialog, enter the Rotate Point.
- Enter the Degrees of rotation (positive is clockwise, negative is counterclockwise) or enter the bearing or azimuth you want to rotate From and To. Remember that bearings or azimuths between existing points can be recalled by entering a point label followed by .. then the second point label.
- From the Rotate What box, choose Entire Traverse.
- Choose OK.

- In the Traverse View or Points Manager, select the points you want to rotate.
- Choose COGO | Rotate.
- In the Rotate dialog, enter the Rotate Point.

- From the Rotate What box, choose Selected Points.
