Windows CE devices connect to a PC via a USB cable and show up as another drive on the PC or can be accessed via Active Synch.
This is different from older data collectors that transfer data via a serial port.
Windows 7 / Vista treats your Windows CE data collector as an external drive. Just plug the data collector into your computer via a USB cable and Browse to the file you want o nthe data collector. TDS uses a Jobs\ folder to hold the survey data. You may be able to read the file directly from the data collector or you may need to copy the file from the data collector to your PC before you read it.
Of all the methods of transferring data between a PC and data collector, this is the easiest.
If you are running Windows XP on your PC and want to transfer data to or from a Windows CD data collector, you will probably use Active Synch from Microsoft. Check the CD that shipped with your data collector for a copy of Active Synch you can install.
When Active Synch runs, it opens a window on the PC that shows the files on the data collector. Files can be copied and pasted or dragged-n-dropped between the PC and the device using this window.
