Draft Mode

By default, Drawing View tries to draw fonts and lines with smooth edges. This makes the fonts more readable and lines less jagged when you are zoomed out. Although the pixel resolution of your screen is not nearly as fine as your printer, the smoothed fonts and lines on the screen will look similar to the printed ones.

Drawing fonts and lines with smooth edges is time consuming for even the fastest computers. Complex drawings with lots of text and/or lines will regenerate more slowly.

To speed up the drawing regeneration time, turn on the Draft Mode option. This option does NOT affect the quality of the printout, only the quality of the fonts and lines on your screen.

This is a persistent setting. Once you turn Draft Mode on in Drawing View, it remains on in all drawings and surveys. To turn it off, just select the Draft Mode command again. If Draft Mode is on, the Draft Mode icon next to the command in the View menu will be outlined.

TPC makes the following changes when draft mode is turned on:

  1. Text is not filled (only the character outlines are drawn) and text smoothing is reduced. The resulting text will not be as ledgible.
  2. Global background clearing is disabled.
  3. Line smoothing is reduced - lines may appear more jagged.
