The Object Snap Mode command toggles Drawing View in or out of Object Snap mode. In Object Snap mode, you can snap to an object just left clicking within ½” of the object.
This mode is most useful for connecting the dots on your site map. If you want to draw in some feature line like the edge of a driveway or back of a sidewalk, just delineate those points in Drawing View, turn on Object Snap mode then start your drawing command. You don’t have to issue a snap command to snap to a feature point, just position the cursor close to each point until the point is delineated with the object snap circle and left click.
This mode is also useful when you are adding points to a traverse in Drawing View. Turn on the Object Snap mode to insure that survey points only are being added to the traverse and not the coordinates of the mouse click.
