Edit Breaklines Command

Use the Edit Breaklines command to manually add or remove breaklines from a surface.

Adding and Removing Breaklines

Right click any contour line or label and choose Surface Tools | Edit Breaklines. TPC will redraw the surface with the TIN lines shown. Breaklines are drawn with their own color and line type.
To add a breakline, left click two or more point symbols or point labels. Starting with the second point clicked, TPC will insert a breakline between the last two points clicked and redraw the surface. You can continue the breakline by right clicking additional points.
To remove a breakline, left click any breakline you want to remove. TPC will remove the breakline and redraw the surface.
If you accidentally insert a breakline that you don’t want, just left click it to remove it.
You can both add and remove a breakline in the same Edit Breaklines command, but if you remove a breakline, you must click two points before TPC starts adding breaklines again.
Add or remove as many breaklines as you want. When are finished, right click or press Enter.

Note: When you get to the end of one breakline you are entering and want to begin another, you can either left click the starting point of the second breakline and delete the resulting breakline that connects the two or end the Edit Breakline command and execute it again for the second breakline.

Including Breaklines

You can also turn breaklines on and off for the entire surface. When you turn them off, they are retained by the surface but are not used in the triangulation. When you turn them back on, they are again used in the triangulation.

To turn breaklines on or off, right click any surface object (contour line or label) and choose Surface Tools, Include Breaklines. A check mark next to the Include Breaklines command indicates they are currently being included.

To Import Breaklines from a Traverse

If the breaklines you want to use are already defined in a traverse,

Right click any contour line or label and choose Surface Tools | Get Breaklines from Traverse.

To Remove Breaklines in a Traverse

If the breaklines you want to to remove are in a traverse,

Right click any contour line or label and choose Surface Tools | Remove Breaklines in Traverse.

Breaklines Dialog

The Breaklines dialog in Surface Settings gives you additional options for editing breaklines including importing and exporting breakline files.
