Side Shot Settings Dialog

The Side Shot Settings can be accessed through the Edit menu, the Side Shot Settings button, or by right-clicking on the Drawing View drawing and selecting Side Shots… on the pop-up menu.

Side shots = Side shots, offsets and cross section points.

These settings are used when viewing, printing, or exporting the map.

Color

Tells the Drawing View what color to use for side shots (Lines, Points, Symbols).

Lines

Choose the line type and line annotations for side shots.

Font

Select the Font, character size and font style (Thin, Light, Normal, Medium, Bold, Heavy) you want to use for the line annotations (Distance, Direction, Grade) you select.

Line, None

Enter the line type (dashed, solid, etc.) and width you want to use for your side shot lines. . Select the None button to turn off lines.

Distance, Direction, None

Choose how you want to label the side shot lines. Distance and Direction can be displayed Above, Below or not displayed (None) in your drawing. Select None to turn off Distance and Direction so that there are no line labels.

Line Leader

Turns on Line Leader(s) for line annotations that don't fit on a line.

Clear Background

Clear any pattern or bitmap fills to make the line labels easier to read.

Points

Choose how you want your side shots displayed

Font

Select the Font, character size and font style (Thin, Light, Normal, Medium, Bold, Heavy) you want to use for the point labels. See Text Objects for more information on sizing text.

Point, Description, Z, Y/X, Station

Sets the point label options you want displayed on your map.

Point = Point Label
Description = Point Description
Z = Elevation
Y/X = Northing and Easting

Symbols

Select the Point Symbol and size you want to use for Control Points.

None

Turn off the point symbol (no symbol will be drawn).

Browse

Select a symbol from the object library and add it to the symbol list. Once added, it can be used by any drawing in the survey.

Trim Symbols

With Trim Symbols turned on, the lines drawn between points will be trimmed to stop at the edge of the point symbols.

Decimals

You can control the decimal settings for each traverse. Sets the number of decimal places to use for Distance, Direction, Elevations and coordinates.

Update Traverse Settings

This option is available only when viewing the Drawing Settings. It copies the current Sideshot Point Drawing Settings to each tagged traverse (the traverses that make up the drawing). This is an easy way to set all the traverses to the same settings before modifying the individual traverse settings to create the map you want.

Save

This option saves the Side Shot Settings as the program’s default settings. These settings will be used for any new drawing that is created. Save is only available from the Drawing Settings. It is not available from the Traverse Settings.

Reset

Drawing Settings - If the top of the dialog says "Drawing Settings", this option resets the Side Shot Settings of the drawing to the default settings you saved for the program by pressing the Save button.

Traverse Settings - If the top of the dialog says "Traverse Settings", this option resets the Side Shot Settings of this traverse to the Control Point Settings of the drawing.

OK

You will return to the Drawing View and your new settings will be in use when you click OK.

Cancel

Returns you to the Drawing View without applying any changes.
