Version 8.0

Version 8 adds Least Squares Network and Traverse adjustments to TPC Desktop plus strengthens the features of the Desktop Personal (formerly Basic) and Premium (formerly Standard) editions.

Least Squares Network Adjustment

The Professional edition allows you to analyze your survey and create a least squares network. You can analyze the entire survey or just selected traverses, solve the network then review it before applying the corrections to the survey.

Least Squares Traverse Adjustment

Both the Professional and Premium Editions allow you to adjust a traverse using Least squares. Use the blunder detection tools to isolate bad data in the traverse or just report the positional tolerances.

Dynamic Offsets

Snap an offset line from a house corner to a lot line, then move the house on the lot. The Offset line updates automatically, reporting the offset distance and bearing (optional). See Insert a Dynamic Offset.

Dynamic Object Labels

Now you can label any line or arc you add to a drawing just like you label survey lines now. We’ve added a new tab to the Drawing Settings dialog where you specify how you want the lines labeled. Then use the new label command to select the lines you want. And these labels are dynamic. Change a line length and the label updates automatically.

Dimensions

Now you can add dimensions to any line or arc. There’s a new Dimensions tab in the Drawing Settings dialog to help you keep your dimensions looking consistent.

Interior Angles

Now you can label interior angles. Just click two lines that share an end point (apex) and TPC inserts an angle arc and label for you.

Object Snap Mode

Turn on the Object Snap mode, then move the cursor to within ½ inch of any object and left click. The cursor snaps to the closest object. There’s even a snap marker that shows you which object you are nearest and which part of the object will get the snap. You’ll want to use this to select points into a traverse or connect feature points on a map.

New Snap Nearest Command

The new Snap Nearest command works like the Object Snap but for just one snap at a time.

Trimble Total Stations

We’ve added support for the popular Trimble 5600 series total stations.

TDS RAW File Support

The new Recon and Ranger use the RAW data file for both conventional survey data and GPS.

Offset to Line Dialog

Now tells you if the offset point is Left or Right of the line and whether or not it is behind the starting point of the line. See Offset to Line Dialog.

More Drawing View Variables

We’ve added variables for the survey name, client and location.

Renamed the Standard Edition to Premium Edition

We had to rename the Standard Edition because we’ve packed so many new premium features in it that there is nothing standard about it anymore. We’ve added contours, sun shots, layers and many of the drawing tools already available in the Professional edition. The Premium edition also contains all the COGO tools found the Professional edition along with all the data collector, total station and GPS drivers.

Renamed the Basic Edition to Personal Edition

We’ve done away with the Basic Edition because there’s nothing basic about this edition anymore. With the addition of the Legal Description writer, more COGO tools, dynamic offsets, stations / equations and other roading tools the new Personal is just the right mix for the private land surveyor or engineer.
