Side Shot Settings are part of the Traverse Settings TPC uses to draw a survey for you.
Side Shot Settings draw all the side shots and offsets. Control points are drawn with the Control Point Settings.
You typically don't use Side Shot Settings in a final drawing nearly as much as you use Control Point Settings. This doesn't mean that side shots are not handy in a drawing. They can save you lots of drafting time when used properly for things like sewer laterals, overhead power lines and interior lot lines.
You can select multiple traverses in the Traverses Manager then change the Traverse Settings for just one of the selected traverses and TPC will apply the settings to all of the selected traverses. This can include Side Shot Settings.
Any symbol in TPC's Object Library can be used as a point symbol, even blocks you create yourself. Find out more about adding your own symbols.
