Deleting points from a traverse or deleting a traverse does not delete the points from the survey. To delete the points from the survey you must explicitly delete them from the Points Manager. This is a safeguard to ensure that you do not accidentally delete points you need in the survey.
TPC only deletes points that are not used in any traverse or drawing and are not protected. The Count column displays the number of times a point is referenced in the survey. If the value is anything other than zero, you will not be able to delete the point. If you are not sure which points can be deleted, choose Select Unused Points.
When you include a traverse in a drawing by tagging it, the objects that are created (lines, point symbols, point labels, etc) reference the survey points. This gives TPC complete data association between the survey data and the drawing. Each time a survey point is referenced, its count value is incremented. As a result, a survey point that is used in just one traverse may have a count value of 6, where 5 of the references come from the drawings.
Since a survey point can not be deleted if it is referenced anywhere else in the survey, TPC purges the drawings, removing any unused references to the survey points so that they can be deleted.
The drawings are also purged each time you choose Edit | Select Unused or Edit | Delete Point.
Removing a point from the survey also removes the the point from any traverse and drawing that references it.
