Referencing the Survey to a Picture
To overlay your survey on a picture, you just need to identify two survey points on the photo. TPC resizes the picture based on the survey scale, rotates the survey to match the picture, and then puts the two together.
- Right click any edge (border) of the picture and choose ‘Reference Survey to Picture’ from the context menu.
- Following the prompts on the status bar, select two survey points which can be located on the picture. You can use the snap commands to select exact survey coordinates.
- Next left click those same two points on the picture. You can zoom in and scroll as needed to better select the correct points on the picture.
- You can repeat the above steps as needed to better reference the survey to the picture.
TPC does the following to reference the survey to the picture.
- The picture is resized to match the drawing scale. If the picture is in survey space (it should be for this operation), the picture will now resize itself automatically any time to rescale the drawing.
- TPC will update the drawing’s User Rotation to match the orientation of the picture. The user rotation can be modified in the Miscellaneous tab of the Drawing Settings dialog.
- TPC will move the picture on the drawing so that the two picture points you selected align with the two survey points you selected. The position of the survey on the page does not change except for its rotation.
- Pictures do not rotate with the drawing, but you can drag-n-drop the picture, if needed, to further refine the reference.
