Pacsoft Binary Files

TPC can open your Pacsoft binary files. At this time, TPC supports pacsofts coordinates (CRD), point descriptions (PTD) and sets (SET). The sets are the key since they correlate directly with traverses. Each set becomes a traverse in TPC, preserving the boundaries, alignments and features you created in Pacsoft.

Importing Pacsoft Binary Files

The dialog will display the number of points read from the file and let you know when the import is finished.

TPC will add a new traverse to the survey and put all of the imported points into it. The imported points also show up in the Points Manager. If you don’t want the traverse you can delete it. The points will remain in the Points Manager.

Sets

Sets are displayed in the Message View in a format similar to the one used by Pacsoft (i.e. 1, 2, 3-20, .100, 21) where a dash represents a range of points and a decimal denotes a radius point.

Set points that are not found in the corresponding coordinate file are followed by '(missing point)' (i.e. 1, 2, 3 (missing point), 4).

If a point label can not be properly read from the set file, TPC displays 'bad point' for the label (i.e. 1, 2, bad point, bad point, 5). The set file may be corrupted.

Pacsoft Formats

TPC supports two pacsoft formats. One in which point descriptions are 30 characters and another in which point descriptionsa re 30 characters. There are other differences between the two formats that affect how the data is stored in the CRD, PTD and SET files.

You do not need to select a format when importing a Pacsoft file. TPC scans the appropriate files first and automatically selects the format for you based on the scan.
