If you have defined breakpoints in a traverse, you can insert them into a surface. If your feature lines like ‘edge of road’ and ‘ditch’ are also breaklines, you can simply reuse the feature line traverse to generate breaklines for the surface.
When you get breaklines from a traverse, the surface makes its own copy of the traverse lines and stores them as breaklines. The inserted breaklines do not affect the traverse that generated them and deleting the breakline from the surface won’t delete the corresponding line from the contour. The effect is the same as if you had manually added the breaklines to the contour.
