Miscellaneous Drawing Settings Dialog

This options lets you decide how miscellaneous Drawing View features are handled.

Distance Units

Adds distance units like FT/M/CH to line distances.

You may want to use ‘ instead of Ft or chs instead of CH. You can change the distance units by choosing Tools | Program Settings | Units.

Extra Space in Bearings

Normally, bearings are displayed as N45º30'30"E. This toggle displays them as N 45º30'30" E, separating the quadrant letters from the actual bearing.

Compute Area

This option forces TPC to recompute the area of any closed loop traverse during a Regen. This option slows down the speed of Drawing View regen, but insures that traverse areas are always current. If you turn this option off, you can update any traverse area by opening the Closure View for that traverse. See Working With Areas for more information.

Store Blocks in Drawing File

This option has been moved to the Save As dialog, where you can choose ‘Share File With Others’.

Plot Resection

Plots Resection Points on the drawing.

Plot Backsights

Plots Backsights on the drawing.

Scale

You can set the drawing scale to whatever you choose.

Rotation

Specify a drawing rotation in degrees (+ = CW, - = CCW). TPC will rotate the survey objects on the page. Paper Space objects are not rotated. You can also set the Apply Drawing Rotation toggle when saving a block so that the block rotates automatically to the drawing rotation. This is useful for north arrow blocks. See Rotating the Survey on the Page.

Label Offset

Enter the line label offset (space between the text and line) in inches/mm.

Distance Factor

Use this to convert the line annotations from one unit to another (i.e., to display chains if coordinates are in feet, enter 66.0). The points will still be drawn in their original positions, but the distance annotations will change. This factor does not affect any other distance in the program.

Automaic Leaders

These are the leaders drawn from line labels to survey lines. They are turned on in the Traverse Settings dialog.

Use these option to set how these leaders are drawn. You can set line type, width, end arrow and end arrow size. The default leader arrow is None.

Label Formats - Points

Defines how the point labels are arranged. Enter the following letters in the sequence you want the point label information, using a \ to start a new line and “” to include any additional text you want like “Z=”Z.

You must still turn the individual items like Description on in the Control and Side Shot dialogs to include them in the label. This format just determines how to display them if you do turn them on.

P = Label
D = Description
Y, X, Z = Northing, Easting, Elevation
N = Station
\ = Line Break

Example:

The format P D\Y/X/Z\N will produce the following:

Label Formats – Curves

Defines how curve labels are arranged. Include a \ to start a new line and single quotes “” to include any additional text you want like ‘Delta=’D.

R = Radius
A = Arc Length
T = Tangent
D = Central Angle
C = Chord Length
B = Chord Bearing
\ = Line Break

OK

You will return to the Drawing View and your new settings will be in use when you click OK.

Cancel

Returns you to the Drawing View without applying any changes.

Save

This option saves the Miscellaneous Settings as the program default settings. These settings will apply to all new surveys and traverses.

Reset

This option recalls the default settings stored in the Registry by the Save command.
