============================================================ TPC Desktop 2008 for Windows Version 10.0 Release 10/15/2010 ============================================================ What's New ---------- From the 'Tip of the Day' dialog, choose the 'What's New?' button. You'll see an extensive list of new features with links to the help topics that explain what they do and how they work. Version Compatibility --------------------- Version 10.0 will read any previous TPC files, all the way back to V1.0. As of 1-23-08, V9.5 will read the first 32 drawings from a V10.0 file. None of the unique traverse settings will be retained however. However, if you open a Version 10.0 survey in any previous version, you will lose all of your drawing data and some of your survey data. This is true of just about every new version. When there are new features, there is often times new data that goes with it. The older versions of TPC don't read this data from the file and so are not able to write it back when they save the survey. XP Compatible ----------- Version 10.0 has been tested on Windows XP. It will not run on versions of Windows prior to XP. Windows Vista Ready ------------------- Version 10.0 has been tested on Windows Vista Business Edition and is Vista ready. Windows 7 Ready ------------------- Version 10.0 has been tested on Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit & 64-bit. Network Installation -------------------- The new Setup Wizard (autoruns when you insert the CD) provides a Network setup option. Select this option to install TPC Version 10.0 on a network server or network client. Check For Updates ------------------ From TPC Desktop, choose Help, Check for Updates. You can download any fixes or additions via a self-extracting update file. Additions --------- 2-24-08 Added Relative Positional Accuracy (RPA) report to the Least Squares report. In the absence of adequate detail about RPA in the ALTA/ACSM 2005 standard TPC presents Maximum Allowable RPA of each station to each fixed control point. 3-3-08 Added user requested line types, point symbols, north arrows and miscellaneous symbols. Available on install CD only. 3-18-08 Leaders generated by Traverse Settings can clear part of the line the reference if background clearing is turned on for the line label. TPC now offsets the leader slightly from the line to retain background clearing of the leader without compromising the line. 3-28-08 The Translate & Rotate dialogs now display options like 'Rotate What' based on the current view each time they are opened. 3-28-08 When saving a temporary drawing as a premanent drawing, TPC now insures that the drawing name is unique. 4-2-08 Added support for Remote Offset records (OF,LR/HD/VD) to TDS RAW import. You can use 1, 2 or all three readings together. Include the letters 'hvp' in the Traverse View, Display Sequence to see these values. 4-8-08 Added support for Prism Constant when reading Trimble DC files. TPC converts the recorded value (mm) to survey units and adds it to all subsequent EDM readings. 4-9-08 Added Import C&G files to the Professional Edition. TPC reads both the binary .CRD and .CGC files. 4-9-08 Added solid end arrows (like leaders have) for Dimensions, Interior Angles and Dynamic Offsets. 4-11-08 Added end arrows for automatic line label leaders. From Quick View, choose Drawing Settings, Miscellaneous and select the arrow and size along with leader line type and width. You still turn leaders on/off in the Traverse Settings. 4-15-08 In the DXF/DWG Settings dialog, TPC now provides options to explode unknown hatching and geometry when importing a DXF/DWG file. 4-16-08 When importing DXF/DWG files into a drawing, TPC checks for empty polylines (common with some 3rd party applications) and removes them from the drawing. 4-16-08 When exporting a DXF/DWG file you can now include XREF / Block scaling (affects AutoCAD 2006 and above). 4-16-08 Added 'Clear Background' tab to Drawing Settings in Profile mode. 4-21-08 TPC now stores elevations of drafted lines / arcs with their drawings. Prior to this, these lines were considered 2D drafted lines only. This will allow geometry from CAD files that have been 'exploded' into individual line/arc objects to store their respective Z values. 5-7-08 You can no longer tab to the 'Pick a line [>]' button in COGO dialogs that include it. You must left click to activate it. 5-8-09 When updating grades between Vertical Curves is selected, TPC now stops at the last VPI (doesn't update elevations beyond it) if the user chooses 'Selected' instead of 'All' for source. 5-14-08 Added spiral definitions for A.R.E.A 10-chord Railroad and UP-BNSF Railroad. 5-14-08 To support spiral definitions we added a 'Definitions' tab to the Survey Information dialog with all user Curve and Spiral definitions available for a survey. 5-21-08 TPC now matches colors as close to AutoCAD's color pallette as possible when importing AutoCAD blocks. 5-30-08 Added 'Save Toolbar Positions' toggle to Tools, Program Settings, Miscellaneous tab. Turn this on and TPC will remember where you place the toolbars. 6-2-08 TPC now allows limited block filling in user created line types. If the line type block contains just one filled object, TPC will fill that object in the drafted line. Of this condition is not met the object is not filled. As a rule, objects embedded in line types are filled with individual lines. 6-10-08 When entering a BS reference azimuth TPC checks to see if the BS has coordinates (either entered or recalled) and if it does, TPC asks if you want to recompute them based on the reference azimuth. This allows you to remove any ambiguity between the inversed azimuth to the backsight and the one you entered. 6-14-08 When importing a DWG file, TPC looks for block references that contain empty, nested blocks and therefore do not generate any drawing objects. These block references are not in themselves 'empty' blocks but in the long run, they act like an 'empty' block. 6-16-08 When importing a DWG file, TPC ignores the text alignment x/y for all BASELINE-LEFT text. These values are not consistent between CAD program so this limits their potential side effect on imported CAD objects. 6-18-08 Added option to 'Apply Prism Constant if Found' to Trimble Settings in the Import dialog. Turn this on to add any prism constants found in the file to the slope distance readings being imported. 6-25-08 Added ability to import bearings (i.e. N30°30'30"E) to Generic Raw CSV. 8-4-08 Added angle sets for imported Carlson SurveCE data (FD,FR,BD,BR). See Carlson SurveCE help topic. 8-12-08 Added support for Block Flipping with importing a DWG file (available as an option in the Import Settings but had not been implemented). 8-12-08 Added support for polyline bulges > 1.0. CAD files use these to create cul-de-sacs. 8-13-08 Added support for Pacsoft files that use 30 characters for point descriptions vs 40 characters. There are other differences between these two Pacsoft formats that are internal to the binary Pacsoft files. TPC scans Pacsoft files before importing them to automatically determine the format to import. 8-18-08 Added web technote for customizing drawing sizes. See www.traverse-pc.com\technotes\custom_page_size.html. 9-11-08 Improved the COGO Compute Coordinates dialog so that it starts in the Bearing field if a From point is supplied (by a Traverse View only). The Tab order also reflects this change. 9-11-08 Added additional AutoCAD color matching when exporting a DWG (TPC V10 uses this same color matching when importing a DWG file). 9-25-08 If a drawing has a layer that exceeds the maximum of 10,000 objects per layer, TPC now prompts the user to include or ignore the extra objects. The number of objects can potentially exceed the maximum if hatching or line types were exploded before a drawing is imported. 9-25-08 Print and Print Preview now force 'Zoom Points' to be turned on. 9-29-08 Extended TPC's ability to read Pacsoft sets including bad and missing point lables. Sets are not displayed in the Message View similar to the way pacsoft prints them out. 11-4-08 Added support for Pacsoft files with missing set names. TPC replaces missing set names with the record number and ignores empty sets (sets with zero points). 11-14-08 TPC now warns if you enter a blank point label or mask (i.e. *OFS) in many of the COGO dialogs. 12-09-08 When importing a DWG file, TPC gives preference to non-xref layers, reading them in a first pass then reading any xref layers next. 12-12-08 When exporting a DWG or DGN file, TPC now sets point label text to the elevation of the point and line labels to the elevation of the line so the text appears at the same elevation as the survey objects when exported to 3D modeling software. 12-12-08 In Quick View, hot keys (accelerator keys) like 'W' for Zoom Window now work inside the running commands (like drawing a line) if they are not utilized by the command. Pressing 'I' for Zoom In would not work for instance because it activates the Snap Insert option. 12-12-08 When adding point to a traverse via the Quick View command 'Add Points to Traverse', Traverse PC now issues a warning message if you try to delete the traverse (in the Survey View) you are adding points to. 12-18-08 TPC Connection release including new blocks and updated line types. 2-3-09 Polylines now store the elevation of each vertex in the .trv file. If all elevations are the same, you can edit the elevation in the polyline dialog. 3-2-09 Build for 2009 Annual License. 3-15-09 Nikon Format V2.00 files with a pre-install version of 1.22 do not include an ID in the MP record. TPC evaluates these records using the number of cammas to determine the format. 3-15-09 When writing a DGN file from a drawing, the Settings dialog now allows you to toggle 'Write Blocks' on/off. When turned on, TPC writes a non-shared cell to the DGN file. When turned off, TPC explodes blocks into their individual elements and writes them to the file. 4-24-09 When writing a DWG file, TPC now stores the mean elevation of an arc in the radius point it writes to the DWG file. This carries the elevation to the object when opened in CAD. 5-29-09 Added Geodimter 600 Import option to store comments in point descriptions. 6-3-09 The special point symbol 'Point' now writes a POINT block with attributes 90=point label, 303=point description for Civil 3D compatibility. 9-29-05 Add Leica (Wild) data collectors to Personal Edition 11-5-09 Added code to test for Windows 7 release version. Activates many of the same features as Vista. Fixes ----- 2-20-08 The [x]Distance Factor toggle in Traverse Settings, Control tab was not tracking properly between sessions. 2-21-08 If you drag-n-drop a traverse onto a Group name in the survey view, that traverse can dissappear from the survey. TPC now looks for the next legitimate insert place beneath the Group name and inserts the traverse there. 2-26-08 Certain COGO dialogs (Distance Offset, Intersect, Station Offset) would not allow a new point to created if the label was a subset of an existing point label (i.e., if point 2000 already existed, you could not create point 200). 2-28-08 The hot keys F4=Print, F5=QuickView & F9=Format did not work in the report generated by File, Preview in Report from the Survey, Traverse, Point and Point Code views. 3-4-08 TPC was not reading/writing the Survey Space Clip object properly to the survey file. 3-4-08 TPC was not reading/writing unique traverse settings properly to the survey file. 3-4-08 Quick View did not store the Accent 4-Sided Arrow user settings properly. 3-11-08 Printing a drawing larger than 11x17 as a PDF sometimes caused a crash. 3-11-08 TPC was not retaining the current zoom after Print or Preview. 3-11-08 The Personal Edition crashed when creating a new survey. 3-11-08 Printing directly from the Point View and Traverse View (F4) did not always work consistently. 3-21-08 Horizontal Curve dialog did not allow you to save PR points. 3-21-08 Insert Other, By Proximity did not work properly. 3-26-08 Interior Angles were deriving their line type and color from the DynamicOffset settings instead of their individual tabs. 3-26-08 TPC sometimes displayed "Move Not Allowed" at the end of drawing commands like when inserting an interior angle. 3-26-08 The Background clearing width was not being retained in the TRV file. 4-2-08 SMI Coordinate settings were not being retained between program sessions. 4-14-08 The "Create Points at Intersections" help topic included screen captures of the V9.5 dialog. Updated them. 4-18-08 When duplicating profile drawings, TPC now copies the vertical ratio and spacing to the duplicate drawing. 4-28-08 The Grid <=> Geodetic dialog did not let you recall a Base Point by it's label. 4-28-08 The Predetermined Area dialog always defaulted to the Hinge Point method when it was opened, even if a Slide bearing was entered last. 4-28-08 When starting a new survey with Traverse Groups turned on in the Survey View, TPC did not display the first traverse until the next screen Refresh. TPC now displays the traverse immediately. 5-21-08 Some polylines imorted from CAD with duplicate verticies and bulges (consecutive verticies with the same coordinates) did not behave properly when the drawing was rotated 90 degrees. 6-18-08 Toolbars can now be dragged and dropped to any position on the desktop. Make sure 'Save Toolbar Positions' is checked in Tools, Program Settings, Misc. 6-18-08 Added 'gripper' section to toolbars, making them easier to drag-n-drop. 6-19-08 The user settings for 'Arc' vs 'Chord' definition curves did not always track properly in the TRV file. From the Survey View, choose Tools, Survey Information, User Definitions, Curve Definition. 6-25-08 In the COGO Intersect dialog, a single solution intersection like bearing-bearing sometimes plotted INT2 when View was pressed. 7-17-07 When placing lot labels on an open traverse, long traverse names did not always draw. 7-30-08 When starting a new survey, the Survey Information dialog did not remember the Client Address. 7-30-08 After hiding a polyline it could still be selected by positioning the cursor over it. Once hidden, it shouldn't react to the cursor at all. 7-30-08 The Offset to Alignment dialog now displays "Offset What" when you are in the Traverse View, allowing you the option to offset from just the selected (highlighted) points. 8-1-08 Corrected the 4-2-08 addition of remote offset records to the TDS RAW format so that offsets are added to the following SS record only if no OF record with AR,ZE,SD data is found. Topcon adds the remote offsets to the following SS record while TDS computes the resulting AR,ZE,SD in the SS record. 8-6-08 Update help topic "Adding a Border" providing correct location for selecting 'Traverse PC' Inside/Outside of border lines. 8-6-08 The Dynamic Offset Solid Arrow leaders did not track properly to the center of very short dynamic offset lines. 8-12-08 Some arcs imported from CAD files and having a central angle > 180 reverted to 360 - delta. 8-13-08 After copying objects with the 'Repeat' option in Quick View, choosing the Undo command sometimes caused a crash. 8-18-08 Getting blocks from an existing DXF file in Quick View sometimes caused a crash on Windows Vista computers. 8-18-08 When creating a new drawing, you can now enter the first part of an existing drawing name. TPC did not allow this before. 9-5-08 When importing a TRV file the 'Overwrite existing data' toggle did not always retain it's user setting. 9-25-08 The Ctrl+O acclerator key in Quick View now displays the Open Existing Drawing dialog as it should. 9-25-08 Fixed the color Black from the 9-11-08 changes to exported DWG colors. 9-25-08 All COGO dialogs now handle a miss-click when Picking a point or line from the drawing. You can keep clicking until you hit a point or line or right click to end the Pick. 9-25-08 You can now delete point descriptions in the Traverse View by deleting a previous description and pressing Enter. 9-25-08 When opening or creating a new survey, the Offset to Alignment dialog now resets the list of traverses to the new survey. 9-26-08 When sorting points into traverses, TPC sometimes executed "Replace Point Descriptions with Code" even when the user had not turned it on. 10-31-08 After a zoom extents on a metric drawing, the scale displayed on the Format toolbar was not correct (the scale in the Drawing Settings dlg was fine). 12-12-08 When entering data in the Traverse View, pressing ESC to cancel the entry restores the original data. 12-12-08 Blocks that are used solely in a group were not being written to a DWG or DGN file. 3-15-09 When editing the Override Traverse Settings in the Drawing Settings dialog, Miscellaneous tab and recalling and existing setting, TPC sometimes crashed. Fixed it. This did not happen when editing these same settings via double clicking a traverse object in the drawing. 3-27-09 Exported DGN files now have the same units as the drawing (survey) in TPC. 3-27-09 Improved the way TPC determines the shortest (best) offset to an alignment. 4-24-09 Some world files were not properly placing the picture in the drawing. 5-4-09 When computing a Bearing/Spiral intersect, the Int1 field of the Intersect dialog now accepts a point label. 5-4-09 The last line of the Intersect dialog 'Summary' now correctly states the 'Distance along the spiral to point'. 6-1-09 Added code to trap for recusive block references (that contain references back to themselves). 6-2-09 When writing a DWG file with individual traverse layers specified, point labels sometimes did not appear on the corresponding traverse layer. Fixed it. 10-21-09 The .BC & .EC commands did not work with CCW curves. 12-2-09 Removed the prompt to allow a layer to process more than 20,000 objects. The prompt sometimes interfered with the completion of the drawing. 12-7-09 Line / Curve table labels were not mantaining their correct table reference if the user modified the text properties (i.e. Clear Background). 2-8-10 If a line or curve table label (L1, L2, etc) is modified (text angle, font size, etc) and Undo is turned On and the table style is Manual, the table item associated with the modified label may eventually drop out of the table. 4-7-10 Added code to 12-7-09 (Line / Curve table labels) fix to double check for line labels that are not in a table but think they are (probably related to the 12-7-09 issue). 10-14-10 Some spiral points on line were not computed properly. Spiral end points were not affected. 10-15-10 Some TPC V11 and V11.5 files would crash when opening. They now open but still display the warning about opening a newer file in an older version of TPC.
