Traverse PC can import TDS RAW and CR5 files directly from your Recon or
Ranger data collector as long as you use a serial communications port
(TPC does not support USB unless it has a serial adapter) and tell TDS that you are sending the
data to an HP48 (if you tell TDS that you are sending data to a
Windows Computer, TDS will send a binary file that Traverse PC cannot
read). Here are the steps to transfer a TDS RAW file to Traverse PC
Desktop:
In the TDS Survey Pro on the Ranger or Recon:
- From the Main Menu, choose the File Menu
- Choose F Transfer and make sure the following options are set:
- Connecting to: HP48
- Com Port: COM 1
- Baud Rate: 9600
- Parity: None
- Choose Send File
- Pick the file you want to transfer
In Traverse PC Desktop:
- Load a file or create a new file to receive the data
- From the Survey View choose File | Import and make sure the
following options are set:
- Type - TDS RAW or TDS CR5
- Source - Direct Connection
- Profile - TDS
- Click the Profile button, set the following options and choose
Close:

- For TDS RAW files, click the Settings button, set the following
options and choose OK:

- From the Import dialog box, choose Import and answer the save
file prompt
Traverse PC is now ready to receive the file. In TDS, choose OK
to start sending the file. Traverse PC should bring up a Save As
dialog box showing the filename that TDS is sending. Choose Save
(or rename the file and choose Save). The file transfer will
begin.
Once the file has transferred
to Traverse PC, TPC will import the data based on the Settings we chose
above. When the import is complete, you should see a screen
similar to this:

Choose Close to return to the
Survey View. You should now have a new traverse named with the
path and filename of the imported TDS file (C:\Program
Files\TPCW\05-48.RAW for example). You can open the traverse and
choose a format to review your data.
