TPC Desktop is not another CAD program. You won't find CAD tools to design a fighter jet in TPC Desktop - but then, surveyors don't design fighter jets - we do surveys. The problem with CAD - Many of you have used CAD in the past as we have, in our own survey business. You know the problems inherent in CAD - move an entity and its coordinates change, change scale and the text size changes, multiple lines over the top of each other, and trimmed lines have a different length than untrimmed lines - just to name a few. The result is that it often takes much more time to do a drawing in CAD than it should.

In the No CAD Zone^TM, you can drag-n-drop the survey anywhere on the page without changing the coordinates, change scale and the text size stays the same, each point and line can only be drawn once, and trimming a line for symbols doesn't change the line length. Smart Drawing Objects like legends, title blocks, line & curve tables and scale bars automatically update themselves as you edit a drawing and you can include them in the User-Defined Templates so you don't have to do the same things time after time. Quick View^TM - We can't say enough about the Quick View. You get to see what your data looks like without drawing it and without fiddling with those drawing commands you can never remember how to use. Just choose the settings you want for Control, Side Shots and Lot Labels and Quick View does the rest. Draw everything the same, or choose settings for individual traverses and you have a very sophisticated drawing without every drawing a thing yourself. And when it comes to finishing a drawing, you just pick up right where Quick View left off. Page Layout Mode - Pick the page size and orientation you want, then work right on the page. Not only do you see exactly what will be printed or plotted - you actually work with it. Or you can switch to Full Screen Mode to maximize your work space.

Paper Space - Draw any object relative to the survey or change to paper space and draw it relative to the page. Now as you move the survey, the object stays where you put it on the paper.

Survey Coordinates - Drag-n-drop the survey anywhere you want on the drawing. The coordinates don’t change. Objects related to the survey move with it.

Format Bar - Use the format to select colors, line type, font, text size and drawing scale on the fly.

Stock Objects - TPC Desktop provide many of the standard drawing objects that you use on every drawing. Just include a North Arrow, Scale Bar, Title Block, Legend or Grid and then customize them as needed.

Quick View - Let Quick View draw the plat for you, then move and edit the drawn objects any way you want. This is the best of both worlds. You get fast drawing and ultimate control! Choose from dozens of options such as labels, offsets and stations.
