President's Message:
Ready for your ‘TPC Moment'?
Phil stopped by our office a few weeks ago and bought a half-price Premium Edition of TPC Desktop. He had recently purchased Carlson's survey software and figured out pretty fast that it was totally CAD and way too complicated. So he went to our web site, watched some of our videos and had that TPC moment that so many others have had – “finally, land surveying software that makes sense to me.”
We understand that many of you already own CAD based land surveying software. But like Phil, you find it complicated and not very intuitive for surveying. We get it because we hear it almost every day. That's why we decided NOT to build TPC Desktop on top of someone else's CAD engine. That's why we call it the No CAD Zone ® .
So once a year we offer our Premium Edition at half-price just so folks like you and Phil can try TPC Desktop. You save $700 and get to start using serious land surveying software that thinks like you think. Have your own TPC moment. Take advantage of this limited time special offer before October 31st and leave the frustrations of CAD behind.

Mark's Tech Corner: Geodetic Learning Guide
TPC Desktop 2011 with Geodetics includes a new Geodetic Learning Guide that walks you through some basics of geodetics step-by-step. I'll highlight a few chapters here.
Project Factors and Preferences – TPC can now compute rigorous course-by-course corrections for distance and direction, but many of you will be happy with a project elevation and mapping angle. This chapter shows you how to establish these project factors for any new or existing survey. Now all your field work, COGO and drawings consistently track right along with you.
Geodetic Closure and Area – if you're thinking, “this is going to be complicated”, you'll be surprised when you see that it takes just three pages in the learning guide to show you how to compute a geodetic closure and area. Just walk through the example survey we provide with the learning guide and we think you'll get it. That fast.
Geodetic COGO – let's face it, sometimes you need a grid inverse and sometimes you need a ground inverse. The COGO routines understand this and make it super easy for you to identify what is being computed and how to change it as needed. Just walk through a couple examples and you'll have the hang of it.

Congratulations Casey: Voted Best Surveyor in East Texas by the Longview News Journal 2011 Reader's Choice Awards
Here is what Casey recently said about Traverse PC:
“Traverse PC was an evident choice for me when I started my own surveying firm at my kitchen table. As the projects came in the door, upgrading to professional was a great choice that paid dividends. Having used several drafting and mapping programs, I champion Traverse PC as a viable standalone option for any surveyor. Made for Surveyors, I have not had any conflict with CAD data and continue to produce amazing plats and export accurate topo data to my clients. The tech support is incredible and the programming is high quality. I am expanding my office to hire another drafter and Traverse PC was a clear winner for drafting software.” Casey Cockrell
